With just 3 weeks to go, excitement is building for The Big Bang Fair 2026 – the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people.

From 9 to 11 June, more than 20,000 students will head to the NEC Birmingham to get hands-on with STEM, try something new and discover where it could take them.

Get hands-on with STEM activities

The Big Bang Fair is all about getting stuck in. This year, students can explore a huge range of interactive activities, including:

  • robotics challenges and drone workshops
  • climate crisis escape rooms
  • an exciting aeroblast arena

There’ll also be the chance to meet real engineers and scientists, and find out what their jobs are really like.

Live shows and experiences

The live stage shows are back, bringing STEM to life in surprising ways.

This year’s line-up includes:

  • A biomimicry show from ZooLab, featuring live animals and exploring how nature inspires engineering
  • A Flight to the Future show from the University of Wolverhampton

Plus, students can take part in Q&As and hear directly from people working in STEM today.

"By inspiring young people to explore STEM and future skills, we’re helping build the talent that will shape our future. When more young people see the possibilities in these fields, it doesn’t just benefit businesses like ours, it strengthens communities and helps tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges. That’s what excites me, and why we’re proud to be part of The Big Bang Fair."

— Lauren James, Education Outreach Manager at Rolls-Royce

“We have a really exciting line-up this year with a great range of organisations showcasing jobs from their sector. It’s a brilliant opportunity to get students out of the classroom and connecting with real-world STEM experiences and diverse role models. Our aim is for young people from all backgrounds to discover the magic of STEM and raise their aspirations for these careers.”

— Phillip McShane, Associate Director of Engagement Projects at EngineeringUK

Be inspired

The Fair is designed to show that STEM is for everyone. By meeting inspiring role models and getting hands-on with interactive activities, students can begin to imagine a future for themselves in these exciting careers.

This experience is brought to life with the support of organisations from across the industry, including Rolls-Royce, AtkinsRéalis, easyJet, EDF Energy, Tech She Can, The Wildlife Trusts and the Victoria & Albert Museum, alongside many others.

Celebrating young talent

Also taking place at The Fair is the Big Bang Competition awards ceremony on 9 June, where the UK’s top young scientists, engineers and technologists will be recognised.
