An astronaut’s lesson on caring for planet Earth

Nicole Stott, veteran NASA astronaut, talks to children’s artist, Oliver Jeffers, about her experience in space and how it helped her to understand why we need to take more care of our planet.

One of only ten women to ever undertake a spacewalk, she says earthlings need to become crewmates, not passengers, of Spaceship Earth.

This 12-minute video concludes with a challenge. Your mission is to design a postcard that...

  • Shows how we are all crewmates on Spaceship Earth
  • Includes something we can do to help protect the planet
  • Has three words about why you are thankful to Earth

You can then upload the postcards to a dedicated platform, with the opportunity to win a prize.
